DiCaprio was castet to play RUMI the famous 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian and Sufi mystic and the Muslim community is not amused about that:

“So they want a white man to play Rumi, a SUFI PERSIAN poet, but when they need a terrorist they find Muslim actors so easily #RumiWasntWhite”

David Franzoni, Oscar-winning screenwriter (Gladiator), is already writing the script. Stephen Joel Brown one of the producers of the Rumi Film announced they wanted to challenge the stereotypical portrayal of Muslim characters in western cinema by charting the life of the great Sufi scholar. Let’s see how this gonna work out.

Rumi said: “I am not this hair. I am not this skin. I am the soul that lives within.” If you would really understand what Rumi said with these words there wouldn’t be such a stupid discussion on Twitter. We are all humans. If somebody tells a story people need to focus on the content and not on a certain figure. I am still shocked about the ignorant world we live in. Finally I got it – no more wondering why there are more and more senseless acts of terrorism in Europe.
